Lu Flux Spring 2011 | Over the Hills and Far Away

Now this, is something wicked cool.

They say "Lu Flux is a London designer who specialises in creating unique pieces of ethical clothing." They use vintage and organic fabrics, and traditional techniques. They would like to act as an antithesis to the contemporary modern fashion.
Their goal is to build up sg new out of sg old, by doing so "consume less and reduce waste". An other nice example of sustainable development.

Maybe this is the future of fashion? What do you think?

ATARI TEENAGE RIOT

What the f*ck is techno punk anyway?

Some answers from Dazed Digital's Alisa Nizhniy's interview.

Dazed Digital: You mentioned that someone wearing a suit to a punk rock club could be the most punk rock person there because he is not conforming to what everyone else is doing. What influences your personal style?

Alec Empire: Some of our fans would kill me for saying this, but I find that fashion is way more exciting than the music scene. Designers take risks, most musicians can't. When I go to the Comme des Garcons store in Paris, I have ideas for 10 new songs. I love what Hedi Slimane did for Dior. Ann Demeulemeester… Alexander McQueen… Vivienne Westwood pieces work well on stage. It is important that the audience doesn't pay too much attention to what I wear, or it immediately takes away from the 'musical credibility'. In our time if you look bad and have a beard, people assume you're a genius. I'd never give into that marketing approach.

DD: Who are your favourite authors and visual artists?
Nic Endo: Guy Bourdin, Maya Deren, Stanley Kubrick, Simone de Beauvoir.
CX Kidtronik: Ramm:Ell:Zee (R.I.P !)

...

DD: What synthesizers would you describe as the creepiest, the sexiest, or as otherwise distinctive-sounding?
Alec Empire: The Memorymoog is creepy. It makes you think of the darkest Portishead songs that haven't been written yet, those grey Sunday afternoons. The ARP 2600 is sexy, and it still sounds so modern! A new synth I love is the Metasonix Wretch Machine… love in the middle of a firefight.

DD: Which musical influences have you recently crossbred with unlikely genres?
CX Kidtronik: Nineties style horrorcore rap and Thai Elephant Orchestra music… a song that bounces back and forth from slow hardcore rap to gabber...

NIHIL

You can read the entire article here.

"The S/S 2011 collection from Obscur is inspired by misty landscapes, the roughness of nature and enveloping clouds, where the garments were constructed out of washed lamb leather. Using crude materials combined with varying pieces both in length and volume, their detailing lies in zippers and pockets whilst raw edges are paired with qualitative materials, subtle linings, comfortable knits and rich textures. Dazed speak to founder Richard Söderberg about his new collection and the appeal of Swedish fashion."

Pure, minimal, perfect.

RECONSTRUCTION.

On the Desing Milk's site, we can read about an interesting initiative. The New School of Desing and Louis Vuitton America gathered to create a design competition for students. The task was to create creative installations by deconstructing some pieces by Marc Jacobs, and with these represent the rich heritage of the Louis Vuitton brand. The article says "this live competition lasted only one day and six teams competed in real time at the Louis Vuitton boutique in Soho, the Parsons galleries on Fifth Avenue in NYC and its fashion building in Midtown. The winning team was awarded a trip to Paris to tour the Louis Vuitton Museum and workshop, Espace Louis Vuitton, and the brand’s flagship Paris store."

The winner was the composition named "Time Travel" (under), by Janelle Abbott, Zachary Clark, Emily Hudson and William Norris, "whose process-focused work was conceived as a topographical map of space and time".

Congrats!

WHAT TO WEAR IN THE SEASON :)

Today I'm going to give you a few hints and tips what to wear in this every-changing season. First you should get yourself a few pair of warm stockings or leggings! Nowadays all immaginable size and fabrics are available in every clothing store, in every immaginable colour!

The "must-haves" are: simple (preferably) 40 den black tights, short, but warm skirts, short, but warm dresses. Black/grey/white turtleneck sweaters (we call it "garbo"), and beautiful high heels. - Do not forget them! This is what makes a real&sexy woman. :)

Dress with care and attention to details, but not too much details. If you haven't got that much money, wear simple pieces, that you can combine or mix w/ different other pieces.

The Uniform Project is about something like this, you can get ideas from it, how to combine pieces: official site. Sometimes I don't really agree with the choices she made, but we all have different taste! :) The reason for this program is mainly to focus on the problems of consuming (the bigger amount we consume the more resources we use from nature, sustainable development is the answer... you can read about the subject here.)

Kisses,

Master Bill Cunningham from NYC

Look who's been capture by The Sartorialist this time? :) Well, nobody else, but the "founder" of streetfashion photography, the legendary Bill Cunningham. I would recommend you to read his Bill on Bill article about himself (the article was written in 2002). Or a fress one here by David W. Dunlap.

Here's a sneak-peak of the article: "...I started photographing people on the street during World War II. I used a little box Brownie. Nothing too expensive. The problem is I'm not a good photographer. To be perfectly honest, I'm too shy. Not aggressive enough. Well, I'm not aggressive at all. I just loved to see wonderfully dressed women, and I still do. That's all there is to it...."

Here you can find his up-to-date streetfashion photos.
The master in action hehe:

If I ever grew old, I would like to be just like him.

WOW.

I don't really "do" man's fashion, but I've just received something I have to share!! Its a must see. You can find more looks @ The Fashionisto site.

Modell: Tomek Szczukiecki
Photographer: Jan Welters

It says "inspired by Tim Burton's recent adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Superfine looked to bring a touch of the same magic to their fall collection." The title of the collection is Wonderland (wonder why? :). I think it has a slight deviant look, rather fascinating than scary. What frightened me was the face of this guy, reminds me of somebody I know. Totally wicked...

Btw Superfine was established 7 years ago, by Lucy Pinter and Flora Evans, and it is said to be "an innovative style leader, making rock n roll jeans w/ a real LONDON attitude". Nice.
